Your MyIR account enables you to check:

      • Whether you are due a tax refund or have tax to pay:
        Your student loan
Your Working for Families Tax Credits
        KiwiSaver payments
        Your Child Support payments
      • File a tax return
      • Apply for Parental Leave Payments
      • Update your details (bank account used for refunds)
      • Communicate with Inland Revenue (note that it may take up to 15 working days to receive a response)

As you can see from this list, MyIR can help with both personal and business tax tasks and obligations. This means you need to two MyIR accounts:

      1. Personal
      2. Business

These accounts are then linked in Inland Revenue’s computer system. If you haven’t set up a MyIR account yet check out the step by step guides below.

Take special care entering bank account details. Recent changes to Inland Revenue’s computer system mean refunds can be processed as soon as a tax return is assessed and the payment will be made to the account provided in your MyIR account. If you want to check or update your bank account you can do this in the section called My Details > Update refund bank account.

Take special care providing email, mobile and address details. These will be used for sending correspondence and alerts with digital channels being the fastest (and mail being the slowest).
